As per the news in Hindustan Times, the IMA challenged the notification of Maha. Govt. which allowed Licentiate of the Court of Examiners in Homeopathy (LECH) degree holders who have completed their courses between 1951 and 1982, to practice Allopathy.
The IMA challenged this in High Court on various grounds. Let's wait for the final verdict.

Being a specialist, Boon or a bane ?
Now it's already a high time for Govt and IMA / MCI to decide what a doctor registered with the body can practice and what a doctor cannot practice.
The NCRDC faced with such situations quite often and the compliants alleged that Dr had no requisite qualifications.
In one case it held that MD Medicine cannot call himself as a Cardiologist !.
A MBBS Dr having 40 years of experience was held Negligent for administering anesthesia..
But In another case the allegations that MD Medicine should not have prescribed Neurological Medicines in emergency, were turned down and Doctor was saved..
Thus there has to be clear cut broad outline as to what a Doctor can practice and what he cannot. As, till MBBS all the branches are introduced to A Doctor. It should not be to the detriment of Doctors.
. Those who are in favour say some major subjects like Anatomy and Pharmacology are taught to BUMS/ BUMS Drs and especially in rural area Allopathic Medicines are required to be prescribed by other Branch Drs as There are not enough Allopaths.. The Allopaths on the other hand say allowing other party doctors to prescribe Allopathy means playing with the health of patients.
There are conflicting judgements and regulations across the country on this subject. Thus there has to be uniform policy Pan- India by studing all pros and cons. Ultimately patients are to be benefited.
Thanks and regards,
Adv. Rohit Erande.
